How 1885 Grill Found a Home in Acworth
For many of our guests, hearing that we were planning to open a new 1885 Grill location in Acworth came as a surprise. With the original restaurant in the St. Elmo neighborhood and our second, 1885 Grill Ooltewah in Cambridge Square, venturing outside of the Chattanooga area came with many questions and uncertainties. Everyone we talk to asks, “Why Acworth?” For the 1885 family, that answer came easy.
Co-owners Miguel Morales and Mike Schroeder met over a decade ago at Carrabba’s Italian Grill. They both shared a mutual respect for their business and admiration for their craft. After opening 2 successful Chattanooga restaurants, Schroeder approached Morales with interest in forming a partnership and opening a restaurant in the North Georgia area.
A Lake Allatoona resident himself, Schroeder has always been drawn to the area and has called it home for nearly 20 years. With a business plan in hand, the duo set out in search of the perfect location for their new venture. Morales and Schroeder met with officials in Kennesaw and Woodstock before crossing paths with Tommy Allgood and James Albright. The following meeting cemented what the duo already knew, Acworth was 1885 Grill’s next home.
Like the St. Elmo and Cambridge Square neighborhoods, Acworth had a quaint atmosphere, friendly neighbors and appreciation for growth and community. Not only have the city officials and the mayor’s office been a tremendous help, the people have been wonderful and supportive.
The decision to open 1885 Grill in Acworth was the easiest decision Morales and Schroeder have made. The city embodies the culture and values that stand as cornerstones for our business. We look forward to opening our doors and welcoming all our new friends to dine and celebrate with us, as we showcase what 1885 Grill is all about.
